So this has nothing to do with the normal graphic design and artistic posts I usually do, however I’m a fitness fanatic and felt I should say a few words about this since there are SO many health blogs on Tumblr idolizing flat sculpted bellies and half of them are from 16 year olds.
I’ve been a die hard workout fitness freak for several years now. And I’ve educated myself….a LOT. I’ve read countless statistics, research, and articles relating to everything and anything to do with health, diets, and working out. I’ve done kickboxing for over 5 years now, ran a half marathon, and lift weights 4x a week. I promise you I’ve done every form of work out there is. I’ve done the whole logging 25+ miles a week of running, I’ve swam laps, I’ve done Crossfit, I’ve done MMA, I’ve done Jiu-Jitsu. I’ve done P90X, I’ve done Insanity….let’s just say, I know a little bit about working out. I didn’t do these things because the other didn’t work, I did them to mix up my routine and try new things.
What I am not is: a certified trainer, nutritionist, or health advisor.
What I am is a female who has strongly integrated a healthy lifestyle into my routine and educates myself every day on healthy choices.
So onto my rant….
Stomachs like this are a nice concoction of multiple things working together. IT IS NOT STARVING YOURSELF. It is not from ONLY doing cardio. It is not from ONLY doing weights. Its a mixture of proper diet, working out, eating the right things before and after your workout, and I know this is a shocker….GENETICS.
Ladies, you’re not going to get this stomach by starving yourself or only eating 200-300 calories a day, which lets be honest, is starving yourself. I promise you this girl has busted her ass day in, day out in the gym, eats healthy, hardly every drinks alcohol, and to get that kind of definition, does multiple muscle building exercises. She’s not on the elliptical 4x a week for an hour only. AND….she has great genetics.
I’m so glad that strong is the new skinny. I feel that message is rapidly spreading to today’s youth and the day of frail, weak, bone protruding girls being sexy is diminishing. But its going a bit far. Apparently teenage girls are now taking steroids to get the cut, sculpted look. Take it from a gal in her mid twenties…..use your teenage years to develop good habits. Once you hit 24, your body will change and if you maintained good habits through out your early adult life, your flat belly will thank you for it.

I’ve heard this book is absolutely massive. And my deep love for crazy books, bigger crush on fashion, and absolute obsession with photography warrants me needing this wonderful book filled with a 1000 photographs of 150 years of fashion in Charlotte Seeling’s Fashion: 150 Years of Couturiers, Designers, Labels.
I ADORE this site from W Scott Chester Photography. It has everything I would look for if I were a client in a dynamic and interactive way. They inject personality into every aspect of the site, for example the forward/back buttons. Not to mention the fly-out behavior that every page has. Scott was named the 6th best wedding photographer in the world by the AGWPJA, so of course his site would only do his work justice.
This is a good example of when photographers should shell out for an amazing web designer. You want your beautiful photographs to be displayed as such.

Totally wearing my Hunter Boots like this :)
Library I dream to have one day.
