Add your own scenery: Interactive FUNDraising

Add Your Own Scenery is an attempt to create the world’s biggest panorama.

Be apart of it! Upload a pic and once Merrel get’s 250,000 pictures, they donate $250,000 to their partnership organizations for land and park preservation!

How it works

Users are encouraged to upload photos taken with a mobile device and using the GPS data stored within the photo, they are placed into a global panorama. Images are then stitched together in a geographical strip from pole to pole across the globe. Bi-monthly challenges and a chance to win a trip around the world acted as appealing incentives for users to share their uploads and become the most favourite photo. Merrell also donated $1 for every photo uploaded with a target of $250,000 to help protect public lands. The site was supported by a Facebook uploader app and digital display advertising. Creative Review tweeted the site and Contagious featured it on their home page.

Mad Website Props

By far one of the greatest UI sites I’ve seen. Granted your average consumer is going to be a bit confused when they open this site up, but for us tech geeks, I thinks its just too damn beautiful not to share.

The email, FTP, and blog sectionals are my favorite.

Enjoy!

Best Photographer’s Site. EVER

I ADORE this site from W Scott Chester Photography. It has everything I would look for if I were a client in a dynamic and interactive way. They inject personality into every aspect of the site, for example the forward/back buttons. Not to mention the fly-out behavior that every page has. Scott was named the 6th best wedding photographer in the world by the AGWPJA, so of course his site would only do his work justice.

This is a good example of when photographers should shell out for an amazing web designer. You want your beautiful photographs to be displayed as such.

Totally wearing my Hunter Boots like this :)

a website to envy

Carsonified is a must have in any web designer’s tool belt. Based out of the UK, Carsonified is an online resource where professionals, entrepreneurs, and those who aspire to be can be apart of web conferences online or if you’re feeling adventurous, purchasing a ticket and attending the events. There is also an online tutorial database where members have access to Carsonified’s video library (where ten videos are added weekly). Memberships range from $25-$99 a month (no different than Lynda) and you get a lot more bang for you buck. I used Lynda for the past 5 years and “quit” this past summer. With Carsonified, you get access to so much more. Their blog Think Vitamin, is also chock full of some daily goodness from respected designers and developers. All this is great, but as I am reading all there is to know about Carsonified, I forget to mention that I am also looking at top ten best illustrated sites ever. As a designer, I am not giving you any money to “learn” more about my craft if you’re site is about as interesting as a hangnail. Enjoy…
